These terms cover three things that are legally distinct, so we’re separating them rather than blurring them together: browsing this site, downloading the free plugin, and buying a Pro/Studio/Agency license through ForPlugins, our licensing and checkout service.

1. The free plugin

ApprovalTrail’s free build is distributed on WordPress.org under the GPLv2 or later license, same as WordPress itself. Installing and using it is governed by that license, not by these terms. Nothing on this site changes the GPL terms attached to the free plugin.

2. This website

Browsing https://approvaltrail.com, reading the docs, or downloading the free plugin from here doesn’t create a contract beyond normal web use. Don’t scrape the site abusively, don’t attempt to bypass license checks or our checkout, and don’t use the contact channels to send anything unlawful. Content on this site (copy, docs, screenshots) is owned by Real Point Media and may not be republished wholesale without permission; short quotes with attribution are fine.

3. Buying a license (Pro / Studio / Agency)

  • What you’re buying: a license to activate the premium features on the number of sites your tier allows, plus updates and support for the term of your subscription. See Pricing for current tiers, and License, updates and support for exactly what a license does and doesn’t gate.
  • Payment: processed by Stripe through Stripe Checkout. We don’t store your card details.
  • Renewal: licenses renew annually unless cancelled. You can cancel any time from your ForPlugins account; cancelling stops the next renewal, it doesn’t retroactively revoke the term you already paid for.
  • What happens if you stop paying: nothing breaks. As documented on License, updates and support, the plugin keeps running with the features it had, you just stop receiving updates and support until you renew.
  • Refunds: governed by the separate Refund policy.
  • Acceptable use: one license activates on the number of sites your tier states. Sharing a single license key across more sites than your tier allows is a breach of these terms and may result in deactivation.

4. Support

Free-tier support runs through the WordPress.org support forum, which we monitor but don’t guarantee a response time on. Paid-tier support is via [email protected], with the response-time expectations described on Support and contact.

5. Disclaimer on the approval record

ApprovalTrail produces a tamper-evident record of an action taken through a tokenized link on your own site. It is not a digital signature and not a certified legal instrument, and we make no claim that it is — see Evidence record for the full, honest accounting of what the record does and doesn’t prove. You are responsible for deciding whether that record meets your own business or legal needs.

6. Limitation of liability

Real Point Media provides ApprovalTrail and this site “as is.” To the extent permitted by law, we aren’t liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from use of the plugin or the site, including lost production time, lost revenue, or disputes with your own customers. Nothing here limits liability that can’t be limited by law.

7. Changes to these terms

If these terms change materially, we’ll say so here and, for active license holders, note the change in the next release’s changelog entry.
